Phonogram TH
What better time to introduce phonogram than Thanksgiving? When introducing the ‘th’ phonogram, you may tell your children this is the only time they have permission to stick out their tongues at you.
Th makes two sounds: /th/ and /tz/. It is important that the placement of the tongue is in the right place.
th/ three (unvoiced) The tip of your tongue sticks out a little and touches the bottom of your top teeth. Push air out making a “hissing” sound.
/tz/ those (voiced) Same as above but make a sound. Touch your throat and feel the difference between the voiced and unvoiced ‘th.’
Point out th in the words you use on Thanksgiving day.

Thanksgiving Oreo Turkey Cookies
READY IN: 15 mins
INGREDIENTS
Oreo Double Stuff cookies
miniature peanut butter cups
malted milk balls
candy corn
4 ounces chocolate frosting
4 ounces white frosting
red food coloring
DIRECTIONS
Use one Oreo cookie as the base. Put a teaspoon of chocolate frosting on top.
Place one peanut butter cup on its side, and stick it into the frosting.
Take the second Oreo cookie, and stick some candy corn, pointy side down, into the Oreo white cream stuffing along one edge for the feathers. Fan out around the edge. You may have to stick them first into some white frosting to help hold them in place.
Place this second Oreo cookie on its edge. Add a dab of chocolate frosting, and stick it into the back of the peanut butter cup.
Place a dab of chocolate frosting on top of the peanut butter up, and place a malted milk ball on top for the head.
Mix a small amount of red food coloring into some white frosting in a separate dish.
Use a toothpick to make a red wattle and feet and white eyes. Add a dot of brown frosting for the pupils.
Pinch off the small pointy top of a candy corn, and dip it in chocolate frosting for the beak.
